Discord client initially had the purpose to create a desktop client where people, especially gamers can create communities called more so as the social gaming platform. To make this work, Discord operates through eleven data centers that are based around the world. This is to reduce latency to, of course, give clients great UX while using the application.
Discord headquarters located in San Francisco in the US dedicates its aim to attend to the present and future needs of its clients, as well as continuously improve its services for its loyal Discord users.
Unlike Skype and TeamSpeak, or other voice communication and text communication service, Discord is unique because of its Discord servers, voice chat channels, where users communicate not only through video calls and voice calls but other cool features such as creating private chats with multiple users through a Discord server, or even a public one with active and persistent chat rooms.
It is also great because several users cannot have the same username, thanks to the Discord tag called the ‘discriminator’ where Discord will randomly generate a 4-digit number attached to a username which makes it unique and protected from a data breach or overlapping because users won’t have the same thing, as far as Discord tag is concerned.
Where is the Discord Program Files Folder Located on Windows?
Are you wondering where your Discord installation files are located? Are you having Discord problems that you need to fix issues and must access your app’s program files? Keep on reading this article to know how to access your Discord installation files on your Windows or Mac personal computers.
The location of your Discord folder depends on which operating system you use on your computer. Unlike other applications, Discord does not automatically get saved under the Program Files folder.
During installation, the default folder of the Discord app is found in AppData Local Discord. For the Windows operating system, there are two ways to open its location and find where the Discord folder is.
Locating Manually Through A Series of Clicks
-
STEP 1
Open File Explorer and click on your C: drive.
-
STEP 2
Double-click on the ‘Users’ folder to enter.
-
STEP 3
Select your user folder.
-
STEP 4
Double-click or hit enter on your keyboard and select these folders respectively: AppData, Local, Discord.
By knowing the location of your Discord files, you can now easily find the installed application, and resolve your Discord issues such as the setup, .exe (if the program is harmful to your computer or not), and other troubles, by knowing where the program files folder is located.
Note: If you can’t find the AppData folder on your local user settings, it is likely hidden. To view hidden files, here’s how:
-
STEP 1
Click on the ‘View’ tab on the navigation menu at the top panel of the File Explorer.
-
STEP 2
Click or place your cursor on ‘Show’ and select ‘Hidden items’ to show hidden files and folders.
Using the search tab on File Explorer
-
STEP 1
Open File Explorer and click on C: drive
-
STEP 2
Type the ‘Discord’ program on the search bar located in the upper right corner.
This process is an easier and lesser hassle, but the downside is that it takes longer to load, so you might have to wait for a minute or two depending on the number of files you have in the C: drive.
