How Much is Discord Nitro?

In this guide we’ll compare Discord Nitro and Discord Nitro Classic and the many features included with each and ask the question, “Is discord Nitro worth your hard-earned coins?”

In 2018 Discord split the Nitro subscription into two separate subscription bases, Nitro and Nitro Classic. The following is how they differ:

Discord Nitro Classic

The Discord Nitro Classic subscription comes with a lot of the chat perks from the older version of the Nitro subscription. The cheaper of the two options, Classic $4.99 USD per month or $49.99 per year. With the classic option, Nitro subscribers gain access to:

1. Uploading a GIF Avatar

   Exchange the still image of your profile picture for a fully animated avatar.

2. Personalize Your Discord Tag

   Change your custom Discord number tag whatever you want, getting rid of the randomized number given to you when your account was created. Note that the tag re-randomizes if your Discord Nitro Classic subscription lapses.

3. Access to Custom Emojis Across Servers

   Nitro subscribers can use all their available emojis in any server to their heart’s desire. Have a fun emoji in your personal server that you want to use in a game server? You can with your Classic subscription.

4. Higher Quality HD Video

   Screen sharing abilities get a plus with the classic tier. Nitro Classic subscribers are able to screen share at 720p @ 60fps or 1080p @ 30fps. Users also get enhanced stream quality of 1080p @60fps for live game streaming.

5. Increase your File Limit

   You’re no longer capped at 8MB uploads. Classic subscribers get a nice little boost to an upload limit increase of 50MB per file.

6. Nitro Badge

   Show off your Nitro status to other Discord users with an extra badge in your profile.

Discord Nitro

Discord Nitro comes with everything listed above in the Classic tier with some additional perks. For $9.99 USD per month or $99.99 per year, Discord Nitro subscribers unlock additional features. A Discord Nitro subscription includes:

1. Upload File Size Limits Increased

   The bigger uploads from Classic get even bigger with Nitro. Subscribers can now upload files up to 100MB per file.

2. Even Better Video Streaming

   Live game streaming at source resolution!

3. Two Server Boosts

   Boosts that you can use to boost your server or other servers. You gain two server boosts at the beginning of each month. When a server gains enough boosts, it improves the Discord experience for other users in the server with some additional perks (we’ll discuss those later)

4. Text Chat Limit Increased

   Increases the character limit from 2000 characters to 4000 characters. This is perfect for making big announcements in your Discord server.

5. Server Limit Increase

   You can now join 200 servers (instead of the normal 100 servers) you social butterfly.

6. Global Access/Use of Custom Stickers

   Nitro users can use custom stickers anywhere on Discord.

7. Server Avatars

   Gain the ability to customize your avatar across multiple servers. Change your Discord nickname and set a different profile avatar for your profile for every server you are a member of.

Server Boosts

As mentioned previously, the Discord Nitro subscription comes with two free server boosts. You can use those boosts to boost your own server or other Discord servers. If you collect enough boosts your server levels up and all users in it (including free users) gain access to new perks. Below are some of the highlights of each level:

2. LEVEL 2: Gained with 7 boosts

   • 256 KBPS Audio Quality

3. LEVEL 3: Gained with 14 boosts

   • 384 KBPS Audio Quality
   • Custom Server URL
   • Increased Upload Limit of 100 MB for all Members

   Note: All three levels add additional spaces for custom emojis and stickers for the server owner and its members.

   

You can become a Discord Nitro subscriber (or Nitro Classic subscriber) with a few clicks:
