One of the coolest things about Discord is the customization options that can really make a server feel like home. From small groups of friends to large mega servers, bots have been instrumental in helping create a streamlined environment for communities to interact and grow.
Since Discord launched in 2015, a large number of bots have been created, offering everything from the ability to manage users to games and social interaction tools.
Until recently, adding these bots to Discord servers was dependant on the server owner installing them through the bot creator’s website or some other third-party system.
However, in October 2022, Discord created a new in-app section for Discord users to add apps to their own server.
This new feature is a great place for programmers, bot creators, or a small game development studio to refine their programs and gain some notoriety by getting their projects to millions of potential users.
In this article, we will explain the new server apps and how to get the right ones for your community servers.
What are Discord Server Apps?
Discord’s Server Apps is a new addition to the software that allows server owners greater customization options without having to search outside Discord.
Over time, the certain quality-of-life options that bots offer have become almost mandatory for most servers to operate. This, along with other integrations offered by game developers, streaming services, and other multi-platform connectivity, Discord decided it was time to integrate these features properly into their platform.
The App Directory is where you will find authorized apps to make your server or personal Discord experience your own.
There are many options, including many established bots you may already be using, such as Dyno bot.
There are also some fresh Discord integrations with your favorite popular apps like Netflix and SoundCloud.
These are just some examples of the amazing apps available, but there are many more to choose from in various categories tailored to you or your server’s needs.
How to Add Discord Server Apps
To start using server apps, you must first be the owner of the server you want to add the app to. If not, you will need to contact the owner or admins to start using the app or apps you are interested in.
