Never fear, text formatting is here to save the day and all of our eyeballs. In this article, we’ll explore how to bold your text, some good formatting rules to follow, and some helpful tips to make the most out of BOLD text.
How to Bold Text in Discord
Formatting text in Discord is as easy as looking to the stars. Okay, not stars, asterisks.
-
STEP 1
Enter two asterisks into the textbox.
-
STEP 2
Type your message after the two asterisks.
-
STEP 3
After your message, enter two asterisks and then post your message. Your new meesage will appear Bold in Discord.
Your Bold statement has been made. Want to unbold your statement? Simply edit your message and delete the asterisks. You can type Bold text and unbolded text in the same message as well. Just leave any text you want unbolded, outside of the asterisks field, also known as the code block.
Can You Bold Text an Entire Paragraph in Discord?
You can use the same command block above to Bold a paragraph. Start your paragraph with two asterisks and end it with another two asterisks. If you’re lazy, and who isn’t, you can highlight the entire paragraph and tap ctrl+b (command+b on a Mac).
Can You Use Different Text Formatting in the Same Message on Discord?
Discord text formatting is not just limited to Bold statements. The possibilities are endless. Want italicize text? One asterisk will deliver that to you. Looking to underline text? A code block of two underscores is all you need. Want to strikethrough text? Discord’s got you covered there too. Some common code blocks are listed below.
Code Blocks to Format Text in Discord
- Bold Formatting = **BOLDED TEXT**
- Italic Formatting = *ITALICIZED TEXT*
- Underline Formatting = __UNDERLINED TEXT__
Strikethrough Formatting= ~~STRUCKTHROUGH TEXT~~
Have some text in Discord you want to edit with multiple formats? This can be done with a single line code block. For example, you can create Bold Italic text with three asterisks.
- Bold Italic = ***TEXT***
Feeling crazy? You can use all four formats above on a single line code block.
Bold Italic Underline Strikethrough Formatting= ~~__***TEXT***__~~
Note: Besides the three asterisks, the order of the code block does not matter. You could put the two underscores inside the three asterisks and vice versa.
