Emoji has become such an important aspect of Discord culture that there are Discord servers dedicated to hosting emojis. Discord Nitro subscribers will boost these to allow the servers to upload even more static and animated emojis.

Wumboji is the term used for larger emojis. When you pick an emoji from the emoji menu and send it to a Discord server, or even through a personal message without any texts, the emoji will appear large. This is called a wumboji. You can choose and click up to 27 multiple emojis in a single message on the text bar before Discord forcibly reduces the emoji back to its original size.

Since the desktop version of Discord is often preferred by users, we will teach you how to add your custom server emoji on this mode first, on the server you want. Remember, you can only do this if you are either the server owner or have admin access. Here are the steps:

1. STEP 1

   Launch the Discord app on your computer and open your owned server or the one you have access to.

   Click on the server name to access the dropdown menu icon. Then, select “Server Settings” tab.

3. STEP 3

   

   Choose the “Emoji” menu by clicking it.

4. STEP 4

   

   You can now upload custom emojis on your own Discord server by clicking on the “Upload Emoji” button.

   You can easily add custom emojis by selecting the image/emoji file you want to upload, from the file folder on your computer. After doing so, you now have your own emojis on Discord!

   Manage emojis and create emoji names. The names must be at least two (2) characters long, and should only consist of alphanumeric characters and underscores.

   Note that the name you choose will be the command you must type on the message box, so your specific emoji will appear on the emoji tab.

   

   To check whether your new emojis are working, type in the necessary command on the message box, and if it appears, you can now select emoji and it’s ready to use!

   For example, if you named an emoji ‘weirded_out’, you can just type the command, :weirded_out: and the emoji will appear on the emoji tab.

   However, if you are lazy to type in the commands, you can just click on the emoji icon located on the right side of the message box, and you can quickly see your server’s emojis.

If you are using the mobile version of Discord, you can still upload custom emoji using you phone. Here’s how:

1. Step 1

   

   Open the Discord app and click on the three horizontal lines on the upper-right side. You will then see the list of servers. You can now choose the server you want to upload emojis on.

2. STEP 2

   

   Tap on the three dots beside the server name to open the server’s profile. Open server settings by tapping on the gear icon labeled as Settings.

3. STEP 3

   Tap on “Emoji”, and then choose “Upload Emoji”. If the file is too large, you can crop it to fit the standard size.

   Rename the emoji by tapping on the three vertical dots beside it.

   To access and use your new emoji, tap on the emoji icon or type in the command :name of emoji:. It will appear on the emoji match tab.

Utilizing Discord Custom Emoji

1. What Size Does a Discord Emoji Need to Be?

   The size of an uploadable emoji file must not exceed 256KB. Any more than that must either be cropped or resized to meet the required file size.

   If you are using the basic Discord, you can upload up to 50 custom emojis on your server. However, if you have a Discord Nitro account, you can upload up to 250 emojis.

3. Can You Use Your Own Custom Emojis on Every Discord Server?
